CHOREOGRAPHER
Description:
Acting For Young People (AFYP) and Mason Community Arts Academy (MCAA) seek an enthusiastic teaching artist-choreographer for our Fall 2024 Showcase production. (show title TBD, likely a “Jr.” or “Youth” version of a well-known show title from MTI, Concord, etc.)
This production is made up of students ages 9-18, split into four unique casts. Two sets of students ages 9 - 15 in the mornings, another two sets of students in the afternoon (one cast of 9 - 15 year olds and one Advanced teen cast, ages 13 – 18.) Choreography should be the same for all casts, although some more complicated choices may be made specifically for the Advanced cast. The director, vocal director, and choreographer are involved for full days during our rehearsal period. Our choreographer manages their own classroom (with the help of 1-2 intern-level assistants, usually teenaged alumni from our programs) and would be integral to the process as a whole. Every week, each of our 4 casts spends time in choreography, so most days, the teaching artist-choreographer would be teaching the same choreography several times through the span of the day.
