SUMMER ACTING CAMPS

Our award-winning summer camps are an excellent opportunity for students with any level of acting experience. In a fun, high-energy environment, we help students build self-confidence and make new friends while learning from working professionals in the theater and film industries. We offer weekly acting camps, specialty programs in musical theater, improv, and advanced acting!

All of our actors will participate in the final presentation, shared for a live audience of family and friends on Friday.

Space is limited in each age group.  Registering early is recommended.


Weekly Acting Camps

For ages 5-18, divided into separate age-specific groups

June 23-July 25 in one-week sessions

Each session will have a unique theme, which will inspire the week’s activities!  Sign up for just one session or multi-week and returning campers will meet new creative challenges throughout the summer! Students will be divided into groups based on their age. Each group has their own acting class that focuses on age-appropriate performance skills, as well as styles related to the theme.

 

Summer Musical Theater Adventures

Ages 7-10

Young singers and actors will join vocal instructors and acting coaches and choreographers from Acting for Young People, for a week of musical theater skill-building! Students will learn music and choreography to several songs throughout the week. This entertaining program is fun for musical theater fans all the way to experienced actors. The week will culminate in a final presentation for family and friends on Friday.

June 16–20 OR July 28–August 1, 2025 (students may choose to enroll in both weeks)

Middle School Musical Theater Workshop

Ages 11-13

Our popular Summer Musical Theater Workshop has been reimagined specifically for middle-school-aged actors!

Students will focus on vocal technique, choreography, and acting as they celebrate the tradition of Broadway and popular music. Teaching artists from Acting for Young People and Mason Community Arts Academy will mentor performers in acting, dance, and singing in this rigorous and fun program. The week will culminate in a final presentation on Friday, showcasing the skills developed throughout the week.

June 16–20 OR July 28–August 1, 2025 (students may choose to enroll in both weeks)

High School Musical Theater Intensive

Ages 14-18

Join us for our popular Musical Theater Intensive program! Actors will strengthen their musical theater skills while learning vocal techniques, characterization, choreography, and musicality in a well-rounded study of musical theater acting. Teaching artists from Acting for Young People and Mason Community Arts Academy will mentor performers in acting, dance, and singing technique in this rigorous and fun program. The week will culminate in a final presentation on Friday, showcasing the skills developed throughout the week.

Musical Theater Performance Bootcamp

Ages 13-18

Advanced teen performers will join vocal instructor Emi Eiting, along with acting coaches and choreographers from Acting for Young People, for a week of musical theater skill-building! Students will quickly learn new repertoire focusing on vocal technique, musicality, interpretation and movement as they celebrate the tradition of Broadway and popular music. Students will also be taught how to make quality repertoire selections for themselves, and will be provided a list of repertoire from which to begin building their own musical theatre vocal library. The week will culminate in a high-quality performance supported by professional musicians.

Middle School Improv Comedy Workshop

Ages 10-13

Young actors will join Acting for Young People’s resident Improv experts, for a week of comedy and creative thinking! Taking inspiration from classic improvisation styles and favorite theater games, like those seen on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and “Make Some Noise”, actors will learn in-depth techniques for creating short and long-form improv, and develop characters and story lines for sketch comedy and scene work.

Advanced Actors’ Summer Showcase: The 39 Steps

Ages 13-18

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! Teen actors expand their comedic acting skills by taking on a variety of characters in this fast-paced, ensemble driven production.

This very unique and highly intensive program gives actors the experience of developing complex characters and performing a full-length production. This program is always focused on the ensemble, meaning each actor is given time to shine onstage. While receiving top-level training, each actor will receive a role and will work together to create a unique design for the production and participate in the creation of sets, costumes, and more. This program culminates in a full-length production to be performed at the end of the week.

Intro to Technical Theater Camp

Ages 11-15

This camp’s welcoming and creative environment is ideal for beginner students interested in technical theater. Students can attend all week to learn about all the technical areas (set, costumes, props, lights, sounds, hair and makeup, and design concepts) or can customize their schedule by selecting days specific to their area(s) of interest. Students will apply their learning in a hands-on way with daily projects to build their tech portfolio and bring valuable knowledge back to their school theater programs. In addition to creative projects, students will participate in masterclasses led by professional designers and technicians and will have the chance to tour George Mason University’s working theater labs and professional stages.

July 28 - August 1, 2025

Summer Acting Discoveries

Ages 3.5-5

Join us this summer for our brand new early childhood acting camp, Summer Acting Discoveries! Through creative play and theater games, students will learn acting fundamentals and how to use their body and voice to tell a story. Students will explore activities that strengthen their social and emotional development and enhance language skills. This program introduces fun, collaborative games and activities that will help to improve students’ listening skills and coordination
