Acting for Young People (AFYP) has been part of the Northern Virginia community for over 20 years. Beginning with an on-camera workshop at the fire station in Old Town Fairfax in 1997, AFYP has grown to include after-school programs at 35 locations and growing, five weeks of Summer Acting Camp, and seasonal showcase programs in conjunction with George Mason University's Mason Community Arts Academy. 

Founding Artistic Director Mary Lechter is proud to recall the twenty-year journey leading up to this point and is excited for the years to come.  Our 20th Anniversary season, in 2017, included student performances in Mason's Harris Theatre, a world premiere professional touring show, and community events.
