ELECTIVE CLASS CHOICES:
Students will choose between two sets of activities.
Classes will be tailored to each age group.
Please indicate choices on registration form.
Monday/Wednesday Electives
ACTING FOR THE CAMERA:
Students will learn or review basic on-camera acting skills using professional commercial copy. Commercials will be recorded on Wednesday, and AFYP will provide students with a copy of their work.
PLAYWRITING:
Students will actively explore the first steps in creating their own stage or screen play.
Beginning ideas for plot, dialogue and character development will be the focus of this elective.
Tuesday/Thursday Electives
MUSICAL THEATER:
Students will work together on a group number from a famous musical. They will learn lyrics, melody and choreography. Great for musical theater fans, or those who would like to give it a try in a comfortable group setting.
IMPROV/THEATER SPORTS:
Students create short scenes, situations and characters, while focusing on listening, teamwork, and “thinking on their feet”. Taking its inspiration from classic improv, as seen on TV’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” activities will be age-appropriate and are a ton of fun for improv veterans or those who might like to explore this “scriptless” form of acting.
